Eta Iota Iota Completes UVI Recognition and Reactivation Process

ST. CROIX, VIRGIN — August 17, 2026 — The Eta Iota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated has reached a significant milestone in its efforts to restore a formal presence at the University of the Virgin Islands' Albert A. Sheen Campus.

The University of the Virgin Islands Office of Student Life & Leadership Development has formally confirmed that Eta Iota Iota has completed the University's Expansion/Recognition and reactivation requirements.

The confirmation followed UVI's acceptance of the chapter's final membership certification documentation, which verified that Eta Iota Iota has multiple members who currently hold the certification required by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated to support future membership activities.

With that documentation accepted, UVI confirmed that the final outstanding condition associated with the chapter's recognition and reactivation process has been satisfied and that no additional documentation is currently required for completion of that institutional process.

In its notification to the chapter, UVI congratulated Eta Iota Iota and formally welcomed the chapter back into the University's Fraternity & Sorority Life community.

The milestone represents the culmination of months of coordination between Eta Iota Iota leadership and University officials as both organizations worked to ensure alignment with institutional policies, fraternity standards, student safety expectations, and the long-term development of Fraternity & Sorority Life at UVI.

For Eta Iota Iota, the renewed relationship provides an opportunity to expand the chapter's longstanding commitment to mentorship, scholarship, service, leadership development, and community engagement to the University community.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University on the cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. Eta Iota Iota Chapter has carried those principles throughout St. Croix and the wider Virgin Islands community through service, scholarship, youth development, civic engagement, and other community initiatives.

The chapter's return also comes as UVI works to strengthen the presence of historically Black Greek-letter organizations on campus and expand opportunities for student leadership, mentorship, tradition, service, and belonging.

While completion of the recognition and reactivation process is an important milestone, any future membership intake activities will continue to follow the separate authorization, certification, and approval requirements established by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and the University of the Virgin Islands.

For now, Eta Iota Iota celebrates an important step forward.

The Ques are back at UVI.
